5 Things That Will Always Make You Unhappy

There are very few things in life will make everyone happy, however some things will make almost everyone unhappy. Most of these come down to living your life for someone else rather than for yourself. If you have ever engaged in any of these behaviors, you probably know exactly how miserable they can make you.

Trying to meet others? expectations.

There will be people that will place their expectations for your life on you. However, you decide whether or not you try to live up to them. Doing so means living for them and not for you. Don?t do it! Set your own expectations for your behavior and achievements and live up to those.

Working to achieve someone else?s dreams.

This isn?t referring to your work life. This is about the dreams other people had for their life that they never went after and are now expecting you to live out for them. The parent who wants you to become a doctor, the grandparent who wants you to travel the world, etc. Live your own dreams instead.

Putting off your goals til tomorrow

Tomorrow quickly becomes today and putting off your goals is a sure road to never reaching them at all. You eventually run out of tomorrows and putting off what you want to do with your life is guaranteed to make you unhappy in the long run.

Neglecting personal relationships

Your relationships are a vital part of your life and important to being happy. Neglecting them for any reason, even if it?s because you?re chasing your dreams, will ruin them, possibly irreparably. It?s a good way to end up lonely and miserable. Don?t neglect the people you care about!

Not standing up for yourself

When someone does something wrong to you or tries to take advantage of you, do you stand up for yourself? If not, it?s time to start. Not only does ?letting things slide? harm you in the short run, but it chips away at your self-esteem, and if you let someone get away with treating you badly once, they?re more likely to do it again. Start standing up for yourself and see how it makes you feel.
