5 More Things That Will Always Make You Unhappy

I the last article I talked about five things that will always make you unhappy. There are many other things you can do (or not do) that will decrease your happiness. Some of them will make you downright miserable. Take a look at these five more listed below.

Being financially irresponsible

No matter how happy you might be in the rest of your life, if you?re irresponsible with money, you?re in a constant state of worry or despair. Managing money is hard for most but so important. Being in debt or behind on your bills will hamper you from reaching your dreams AND land you in financial trouble. Seek help if you need it.

Neglecting personal development

People change throughout their lifespan, and your interests change. Not exploring new hobbies and interests as you age is a good way to end up miserable without understanding why. You?re not the same person as you were in high school by the time you turn forty (or even 25). Things change as you grow. Personal development needs to continue as you change.

Perfectionism

No one is perfect, but many try to be. This can lead to ending up unhappy because you can?t reach the impossible standard of perfectionism you set or being unhappy because it?s not what you really want after all. Letting go of perfectionism and embracing the imperfect nature of the world is the cure.

Not following through on your commitments

Are you good at keeping commitments? Breaking commitments is a great way to ruin relationships, lose clients, and even end your career (or at least get you fired). It?s one of the few things you can do that leads straight to unhappiness. How can you avoid breaking commitments? Avoid overcommitting yourself. Try to only give firm commitments for things you are 100% sure you can do. Otherwise, say something like ?I?ll try, but I?m not sure I can do that.?

Comparing Yourself to Others

Comparing yourself to others leads to envy, jealousy, and resentment. It also makes you disappointed in yourself, the life you lead, and your own accomplishments. Chances are good anyway that anyone you compare yourself to doesn?t have everything in all areas of their life, even if they appear to.

You are yourself and no one else. Would you really want to give up the good things you do have in life to switch with someone else? Stop comparing yourself to other people and focus on improving YOUR life and improving yourself.
